Chapter 1
Some Interesting language that describes the cold like cold air discribed as big,fat puffs of smoke.Also went you would go outside you would automatically blink a thousand times.If you spit on the ground it would freeze up before it hits the ground.
Ham bone was discourageing Wilona by telling her a bunch of lies about Flint, Michigan hambone saw a movie called Nanook of the North he thinks it was made in flint, said it was like an icebox and the people lived in igloos. HE said most people their were Chineese their were no colored folk and they ate wales and seals.I think Mr.Watson thought of Hambone as a joke a outcast or an enemy because he was trying to steal his wife from him and his head was shaped like a hambone. Also he talked all southern like so it was funny.
I think Kenny has a tough relationship with Byron so some days Byron might shove Kennys face in the snow and somedays he might give him a job well done.

2) Hambone tried to discourage Wilona from marrying Mr. Watson by telling her lies about him. For example saying that they "eat whale and seal meat" and that they "live in igloos". 3) Kenny's relationship with Byron isn't a strong one. Byron tries to get Kenny to scrape the ice off of windows that he is supposed to be cleaning. Also Byron makes fun of him by crossing his eyes since Kenny has a lazy eye. Byron and his friend push Kenny into snowbanks and spit snow at him.
4) Kenny is afraid because he is really good at school and Byron has been left back for at least three years so he is afraid that Byron will tease him for being smart and make fun of him. Also in this school people tease you when you are smart and since Byron has a lot of power in this school he could lead the teasing.
5) Kenny is surprised that Byron sticks up for him when some of the other kids begin to tease him. Also, Byron seems a little proud of him which is surprising since he doesn't usually think high of his brother. "I couldn't believe it. I think Byron was proud of me." This shows that Byron is not usually proud of him.
6) Kenny sees Rufus as his personal saver since in Sunday School he learned that God sent someone to help you when you were having a hard time. So when Rufus came, he thought God had gotten sick of him being teased. It said "... God had finally sent me some help!"

1) The interesting language is "It was about a zillion degrees below zero". I know this because in chapter 1 on page 1 Kenny says this.

3)Kenny has a distant relationship with Byron. Byron is mean to kenny and makes cross eyes at him when hes annoyed at him, and Kenny really only respects him so he can have the emmunity at school, being the god's brother.
4)Kenny is afraid because he thought that because his older brother was the god and he flunked his grade, that he was going to look smarter than him, which was going to make Byron mad and probably beat him up. Especially when Mr. Alums pointed it out.
5)First Mr. Alums begins clapping for his performance and instead of Byron giving Kenny dirty looks Buphead was.
6)He sees him that way because rufus and his brother were going to be the people the other kids and Larry Dunn would make fun of insted of himself.

1. First question. The author uses language in chapter one to describe the cold like this. Kenny said it felt like it was a zillion degrees below zero. Also the family had to wear winter clothes and jackets inside. Plus the family all had to snuggle on a coach together.
Second question. Hambone Henderson tries to discourage Wilona from moving to flint by saying its like living in an ice box. He also says that a whole bunch of Chinese people live there. He also said people live in igloos there. He also says the Chinese only eat was whales and fish. But they don’t eat any meat anyway. I think Mr. Watson thinks Hambone Henderson is weird. Third question. Byron and Kenny have a really bad relation ship. Byron is older and really tough he’s a bully. So he beats up on Kenny most of the time. But uin chapter one when he got his lips stuck to the mirror. He starts crying like a little baby so he’s tough but not that tough. Still Byron and his friends love to make fun and take advantage of him. Like how to survive a blizzard. Byron and his friend his best friend buphead, Basically they trick and push him into a snow bank twice and then throw snow in his face. Mean I know.
2. I think Kenny is scared when he finds out the reading is in front of Byron’s class because he knows if he does really good and the teachers love him Byron will get mad and jealous so Kenny will get beat up.
Second question. What surprises Kenny after the reading is when Byron and buphead come over to him. Byron doesn’t beat him up and almost sounds proud of him. Kenny is really surprised after that
Third question. Kenny sees Rufus as his personal saver because Rufus is from the south and a little different. He always speaks with an accent and smiles a lot so maybe the other kids will pick on him more than Kenny. lets see if it works out.
