Chapter 7...
1. I think By keeps doing things he is not supposed to because he does not want to be a good kid. He wants to be mean forever.
2. When Byron gets in trouble I think they both punish him well. I think that Wilona scares Byron and Mr. Watson actually punishes him.
3. Mr. Watson is angry with By for getting a conk because a lot of white people get them. Also because it shows that Byron is not proud to be black.
Chapter 8...
1. Kenny is eager to have a real mustache like his Dad because it makes him think that he is grown up.
2. The Watsons think sending By to Alabama will help him because Grandma Sands is very strict. I think it will work.

CHAPTER 7:
1) I think that Byron keeps doing things that his parents forbidden him to do because, he wants to act all "cool" around everybody and show people that he is a “bad boy." Anything that I am not quite sure is about why he really does it. We have seen the soft side of him where is not a bully at all and is very nice.
2) When Byron misbehaves I think that Mr. Watson handles the situation a little better. For instance when Byron got a conk Mrs. Watson started freaking out and sent Byron straight to his room. I think when his mom freaks out it encourages him to do things like that even more. Mr. Watson tough does not freak out he takes it slowly, and you can tell that he is mad but he doesn’t show that. He just drags him by the ear and shaves his whole head. Like I said sometimes people do bad things just to get their parents mad, and Mr. Watson handles it a lot better.
3) In addition to thinking it is ugly Mrs. Watson objects to the conk, because black people get this hair style done when they are tired of there old boring self and they want to be a black person. This often offends people who are black.
CHAPTER 8:
1) I think Kenny is so eager to have a real mustache like his dad because, he probably wants to be more like a grown up now. Another reason may be that he could also brag to Byron that he is not a young little twerp anymore that he is becoming a “grown man.” Maybe he thinks that Byron won’t tease him that much if it happens.
2) The Watsons think that sending Byron to Birmingham will help him behave better because, they say that Grandma Sands is a very strict person and will not allow Byron’s bad behavior in her house. I actually kind of do think that this may work, from what everyone in the book has described her as I think that after spending a little time with her he will really hopefully start to shape up.

1. I think byron keeps doing things his parents have forbidden because he's the oldest so he doesn't recieve much attention maybe that's why he does bad things. Also because he wants to make himself look cool and brave so he does things that are dangerous that get him into trouble.

3.Mrs. Watson objects to "the conk" because it's ugly and you have to put chemicals in your hair to get it that way. Also she thinks you should be proud of your natural hair.

1. I think that he does this because his parents have threatened him but they really do anything until chapter when Momma "burns Byron's finger". I think that it is the part the parents fault for not teaching him a lesson. Momma kept just warning him until chapter 5 when she tries to burn Byron's finger.
2. I think that Mrs. Watson handles it better. Burning a finger is worse than being beat or cutting all of someone's hair off.
3. Mrs. Watson objects because she and Mr. Watson think that he trying to look like a white person.

1) Byron does things his parents tell him not to do since he thinks he doesn't have to listen to them. For example, he doesn't wear all the winter clothes anymore. I also believe he is trying to rebel.
2) In my opinion Mr. Watson handles Byron misbehaving better. He takes away what he just did (e.g. Shaving his head when he got the conk) instead of using violence like Mrs. Watson.
3) Mrs. Watson objects to the conk because she thinks he is trying to be something he's not/deny his heritage.
4) Kenny is eager to have a mustache like his dad since he looks up to his dad and wants to spend time with him.
5) They think sending Byron to Alabama will make him behave better since Buphead won't be there to influence him and Grandma Sands will keep him in line since she's strict. Also, Mr. Watson thinks that because there is segregation, it will teach him life isn't all fun and games. I don't think it'll work because some people are protesting for civil rights and Byron seems like the kind of person who would want to join that.

1. Byron does those things to be 'cool' and maybe appear more 'tough'.

1. I think Byron keeps doing things that he shouldn't because he thinks it's cool. Like my brother. He's mean to me because he thinks that it's cool and that it will impress his friends just because he bullies me.
2. I think that Mrs.Watson handles it better because she is so mad and she knows that so she isn't going to do anything because she might do something stupid. Mr.Watson just goes straight up stairs, not even telling Mrs.Watson what he's going to do, and shaves Byron's head. I think he should have told Mrs.Watson to make sure the punishment was O.K. with her.
3. Mrs.Watson objects to the conk because that is a way of trying to make himself look white. The Watsons are against that. They were proud to be black.
4. I think Kenny wants a real mustache because first of all that would show that he was a real man. Also because he wanted to use, in his opinion, the good smelling shaving soap.
5. I think the Watsons send Byron to Alabama because they think it will be good for him to be away from Buphead. Also because Grandma Sans is very strict, and he won't have any little kids to pick on. I think that this will work. I think this because Buphead is a very troublesome and makes Byron do many of the things he shouldn't be.

1. I think he keeps doing things because he's a wise and stubborn. also Buphed his best friend does many things and is kind of a bad influence on Byronand he follows his best friend.
2.I think mr. Watson handles it better because like any normal kid Byron is more scared of his dad instead of his mom. So when the mom yells at Byron he is not that intemidated as if the dad were.
3. He ibjects to the conk because basicially Byron is almost trying to look white and fit in. His dad is mad because Byron is fine the way he is if he think looking white or changing your hair to look white than he is wrong.

1. Umm I think Kenny is eager to have a mustache like his dad because he wants to be like him. Also because when you grow a mustache normally it's a sign of you getting older and becoming a man. So he is probably looking forward to that.
2.I think the Watsons thinks it's better to send him to Alabama because down south blacks were treated horrible with segregation and Racism and the Klu Klux Klan. they think it will show him the worlds not all fun and games. Yes I do think it will work because if he tries to act tough and hurts he could be souverly hurt.

1. I think that Byron keeps on doing all of the things because first of all he is a teenager and some teenagers are mean but some are nice. I think Byron is trying to mature into a adult and he isn't succeeding. I also think that Byron is under some hard times. Maybe in school or something like the family going on welfare and the blacks are starting to get segregated. Or maybe he wants attention. I am not sure which one.
2. I think that Mr. Watson handles it more decently. I think so because when Mrs. Watson took charge in a other chapter she was about to burn Byron when Mr. Watson took over he went all the way to the bathroom and shaved off Byron's hair when he put it up in a conk. Mr. Watson didn't have a way of hurting Byron.
3. Mrs. Watson was ashamed that her son got the conk because white men usually have the hairdo and it doesn't respect black pride.

1. I think that Kenny is so eager to have a mustache because he wanted to think the is now older and mature or he wants to get a soft upper lip so his face felt good.
2. I think that the Watson's are sending Byron to Alabama because he needs to behave better and grandma Sands is strict and strict helps kids behave much better. I think this plan will work.

1)Kenny is eager to have a real mustache because he wants to be more grown-up like. You can tell because it said in the book that even though he didn't want to become a gown up he liked the way it felt to be talked to like an adult, when his father spoke to him in the "brown bomber".
2)The Watson are sending Byron to Alabama because they think that Grandma Sands will be strict enough to teach him a lesson, and hopefully learn how to be a good kid. I dought this will work because if you think about Byron he's acted thi way through the whole book, and that's the way he was taught was ok to do, because the parents never toerated this kind of behavior enough to get through to him. It is very hard to change a bad person, unless you say something very meaningful or momentous to them.

1: I think Byron does those things to be cool and tough and not seem weak so the other kids will 'bite' him.
2: Mrs. Watson handles it better because she is REALLY getting the message to him with burning him fingers. It will teach him really not to misbehave.
